Dubai Airports Consider Use of Face Recognition Cameras

The 2 Airports in Dubai, Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport are considering the use of face recognition cameras to enhance security at the airports in Dubai.

New hi-tech cameras will be installed at Dubai Airport and Al Maktoum Airport to ensure better security measures as 732 criminal cases have been registered this year by the Dubai Police Airport Security. In 2009 there were 1,382 cases with most of them related to passport forgery.

At present there are 3,246 security cameras at Dubai Airport and 180 cameras already installed at the new Al Maktoum Airport so far. More cameras will of course be installed at Al Maktoum Airport by the time Al Maktoum Airport opens for passenger services next year in March.
