Al Maktoum International Airport

Latest reports have announced that Al Maktoum Airport is scheduled to begin passenger operations from March 2011.

Al Maktoum Airport is set to open this month on 27th June 2010 for cargo flights and will be the centrepiece of the $33 USD billion Dubai World Central megaproject which is planned to be the world’s largest airport when it is fully completed.

Andrew Walsh, Vice president for cargo and logistics at Dubai World Central said..

“The planning date is spring of 2011 so we’re looking at the end of March2011 for the start of passenger flights, Right now, the passenger terminal at Al Maktoum Airport is in the final stages of fitting-out.

Once we’ve got the cargo terminal open and the operations are settled, we’ll move into the operational readiness process for the passenger terminal through the later part of this year and the early part of next year”, Walsh said.
